My wrists are already booked for "bracelet" tattoos. I've always fancied the idea of them.

I don't like the idea of putting a smiley face on my shoulder as it'll never get seen. I'm always wearing sleeved T-Shirts, even on stage.

Get it tattoo'd on your face, at full faced size.

If people recognise you for it, then it'll always be cool. Why not try and work it into a bracelet tattoo? You'd have the advantage of being able to reveal and conceal it for stuff like work with a watch or sleeve, and a bracelet tattoo which you just displayed an interest in. A good design for something like that could work really well by my count.
