VC in Jan '12
Saw this, thought I'd share:
New plastic kits always sound nice, and finally plastic Knights. Woo! Though really, it's not like it was hard to see coming.new info on vamps, all appears to be 100% accurate:
- they are coming January (100% now)
- mortis engine/coven throne (unsure if this is final name) - plastic kit. apparently HUGE. we may be talking arachnarok base for this thing...(edit: thinking a bit more about it, it will probably be a chariot base like the sphinxes; but i think these things will be bigger than your average chariot from what ive heard)
- wraith riders/black knights - confirmed dual plastic cav kit
- monstrous infantry unit (unsure of name) - plastic kit. has option for wings. adding the wings is probably a unit option and may not be a completely separate unit.
- new finecast krell model
- black coach is indeed getting finecasted
Though a plastic Black Coach would have been preferred.
Sooo, about those Brettonians ...
This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.
Sex, drugs and pointy ears.
Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.
Cordova: In my head you're eight foot tall, always carry an officer's sabre, and speak like Theoden at the battle of Pelennor Fields.
Grey Knights don't go to heaven: they go to hell and regroup.

As long as they make Zombies useable. I can't see them making an appearance in Chaos Legions, and Chaos Renegades is a way off. If they're not a pile of shit in VC for once, I might actually start. Excuse to get a Terrorgeist (or whatever it's called) too.
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Death Guard
Nurgle Daemons
Traitor Guard

gah if they come out Jan I will have mostly painted up my tomb kings by then as well! And always liked NECROMANCER based armies so as long as I don't have to have a poxy vamp in my army i will be happy indeed. (and big love for Krell - team him back up with Arkan and we are laughing.) now finally something to do with my 80 zombies. oh and if Nagash comes back I think i might just explode in excitement!

Now to sit back and wait for the vast majority of fantasy players to start bemoaning about VC's being 'OMG! THEYZ TEH MOST BROKENZ!!!11!!!!1! VC'S R STUPID OVER-POWERED!'
...Wait a sec, so what's actually changing in this book?!
Can't wait to dust off my Lahmians again, and add some new toys as well! That rummore 'coven throne' sounds like a must have, and new black knights/wraith riders sound ace!
Hopefully the new monstrous infrantry unit isn't too 'gross' looking as Ilike the idea of giant, animated gargoyal statues tearing things up.
Bloodlines are also rummored to be coming back, hopefully without the silly 6th ed restrictions too...
And please GW, make zombies usefull. T2 on what's designed to be a tarpit unit that crumbles?!
I'm still missing the punch line on that joke...

As long as they change it so you can't Van's stuff into combat, then it'll make them so much better all around. The biggest downside to that comes from the non-comp events where you can swift reform conga graveguard, van's them in, stay in a conga, then Ld10 (with a re-roll) into a combat block and you've gained SO much from doing so, it's just wrong!

Or better yet, how about the new book makes more than 1 lone build viable so that 99.9% of VC armies don't all look alike anymore?
There's a reason VC cheddar is so abused - it's the only way to win with our current gakpile, crapheap excuse of an army book! (name the last time you saw a competitive VC list that wasn't ghouls + drakenhof gravestar?)
Really, as a VC player what I hope to see in our new book;
- more than 1 freaking build!!!
- a lord choice that doesn't run you 350-400+ pts. (um, how about we get back our vampire "counts"?!!)
- combat vamps to be viable once again. (like you know, maybe make it so we DON'T! have to spend 20 gaking points for heavy armour + shield?!?)
- zombies that work
- the holes in our unit types filled in
- magic brought in line with 8th ed, plus some way to mitigate the sheer randomness of the magic phase... (1 bad roll for power dice can easily be 'game over' for us!)
- make our shite units playable please...

26th November 2011 21:25 #9actually hoping for some serious re-thinking on the black coach because as it stands in the moment it is pretty monstrous (doubly so in storm of magic games.)- make our shite units playable please...
to be fair, if it has necromancer led armies it will be win for me, as love the background of it. Obviously tweeks to put it in line with 8th ed and so forth, less magic items etc. 'Judging from the latest hardback books it might not be the filthiest thing since pox soup but it WILL be characterful, with many viable builds and completely play tested.

I'd just really like to see our Lords section go back to what we had in 6th ed;
- Vampire Lord who really was an absolute beast! Not the hopelessly confused 'I'm a speedy elf but I hit like an old blood though I can only attack as well as a regular old mortal?' we currently have...
- Vampire Count who's about 30-40pts cheaper than the current lord but with only 3 attacks & Ld9.
We seriously need this guy to be cheaper so that we can have a viable lord option who's decently hard to kill & won't soak-up 25% of the army's points in games around the 1500-2k mark.
- Necro Lord for a Lv4 who's cost is pretty much on par with every other army out there
AND
Don't make wizard levels for vampires require bloodline powers please!!! Cap counts at Lv2 & lords at Lv3 with (maybe) only the nechrarch bloodline able to get the Lv4 lords... Vampires themselves have never been the 'uber wizards of the army outside of only one or two bloodlines.

As much as I like the fluff behind the bloodlines, I prefer lists which offer fluff based choices but dont make fluff a mandatory part of the game. Something I like the current VC book for. I do think the options should be more varied with abilities which effect the sort of army you have or work like unit buffs, and the current powers need recosting Avatar of death im looking at you!
Lord options need a massive rework and whilst im not a fan of the Necromancer armies suggested, a little variety would be nice. The characters are nice atm but nothing to write home about a few cool abilities, a recosting here, a ward save there and we would be talking business.
direwolves, Zombies, batswarms, blackKnights, fell bats and spirit hosts all need a rework or something to make them worth taking.
I like VC and cant wait for a new book but I worry that resing could go to something like what the TK have. losing invocation doesnt bare thinking about.
