Crazy day with the Brets.
So after some pressuring from friends, I managed to scrounge together a 1500 point list to take part in some League Games. I've only ever played 3 games of Fantasy, and these would be my first proper ones (all the others were either team games or 500 points).
In my list I had -
The BSB goes with the Grails, the Lord and Damsel with the Twilight Banner guys and the Other Paladin goes with the second knights unit. The prophetess goes with the Bowmen.Code:Bretonnian Lord w/ Warhorse, Virtue of Heroism (Heroic Killing Blow), Lance = 177 Prophetess of the Lady w/ Level 3, Life = 190 Paladin w/ Rangers Standard, Grail Vow, Warhorse, Shield = 149 Paladin w/ Warhorse, Gold Sigil Sword, Virtue of Noble Disdain = 111 Damsel of the Lady w/ Level 2, Brettonian Warhorse, Beasts = 115 Knights of the Realm (8#, 241.0 pts) 7 Knights of the Realm @ 241.0 pts (Knight's Vow; Musician Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Barding; Hand Weapon; Lance; Heavy Armour; Shield) 1 Gallant (Hand Weapon; Lance; Heavy Armour; Shield) 1 Twilight Banner 8 Warhorse (Swiftstride) Knights of the Realm (8#, 218.0 pts) 7 Knights of the Realm @ 218.0 pts (Knight's Vow; Standard Bearer Std; Barding; Hand Weapon; Lance; Heavy Armour; Shield) 1 Gallant (Hand Weapon; Lance; Heavy Armour; Shield) 1 Banner of Calons 8 Warhorse (Swiftstride) Peasant Bowmen (10#, 65.0 pts) 10 Peasant Bowmen @ 65.0 pts (Peasant's Duty; Hand Weapon; Longbow; Braziers; Defensive Stakes) Grail Knights (5#, 230.0 pts) 5 Grail Knights @ 230.0 pts (Grail Vow; Musician Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Barding; Hand Weapon; Lance; Heavy Armour; Shield) 5 Warhorse (Swiftstride) 1 Banner of Eternal Flame
I played 3 games, the first was against a Dwarf List, it had 2 units of Warriors, some guys with Pistols, an Organ Gun, a Gyrocopter, a Bolt Thrower and a Cannon + two characters.
This game started fairly badly, Lost a lot of knights running in to shooting (Organ Gun killed all the grails except the BSB in one shot) but then I got it all back in one turn. The Prophetess got off Regrowth on one of my units, bringing it right back to full strength and I charged his Pistol unit and the unit of warriors with the general in them. I won both combats and chased both units down, the BSB also engaged the Organ gun and killed two crewmen. next turn I wiped out 3/4s of the other warriors with a killed Dwellers from Below and the rest of the game was clean up.
Second I played against Ogres. There was a big unit of Standard guys with a Tyrant, Two units of 4 Leadbelchers, one lead by a butcher, a unit of Mournfangs and a funky Cannon mounted on a rhinox. We deployed at angles, with 12" between us, which allowed me to get a turn 1 charge against him (he moved his army towards me after I prayed). The Grails and on unit of Knights wiped out his deathstar in one turn and the Knights over ran into a unit of leadbelchers. One of my units of knights with the General and a Paladin were in reserve. My Beast Wizard got off Transformation of Kadon, turning into a Hydra and killing a unit of Leadbelchers. The unit of knights in combat with leadbelchers killed them and overran into the cannon, flanking it. all that was left at the end of turn 3 was the Mournfangs, who I had given a refused flank. He managed to charge one of my knights units, but I responded with a rear charge with the other one. Regrowth and Flesh of Stone really saved me here, both spells boosted by Throne of Thorns made one of my units basically invincible.
Lastly I played against Tomb Kings, and this game went pretty badly. I managed to take out most of his army, but there was nothing I could do against the Tomb Guard. Without a good multi-charge they weren't going to die, and he just ate each unit of knights as they came.
-----------------
So 2/3 games won, pretty good going for soemone who doesn't play fantasy, using what I think is the second oldest (WE are older?) book in the game. In an edition that hates Calvary

I've been using them for a while, they're defintally not a bad list, I've won some, lost some, all with an eye on the ETC Style of play (when I know I'm losing, castle up, preserve points etc). I've been using something along the lines of this ...
2400pts
Lord - Grail Vow, Royal Pegasus, Heroic Killing Blow, Lance, Shield, Gromril Gt.Helm, Dragonbane Gem, Potion of Speed
Phrophetess - Lv4, Crown of Command, Silver Mirror, Lore of Heavens
Damsel - Lv1, Scroll, Lore of Beasts
Paladin - Horse, BsB, Dawnstone, Enchanted Shield, Gauntlet of the Duel
Paladin - Horse, Lance of Artois, Charmed Shield, Luckstone (this guys the one I'm not 100% sure on atm)
12 Knights of the Realm, Full Command, Banner of the Eternal Flame
12 Knights of the Realm, Full Command, Banner of Discipline
10 Bowmen, Braizers
10 Bowmen, Braizers
5 Pegasus Knights, Full Command
5 Pegasus Knights, Full Command
Field Treb
Field Treb
Army Total = 2399 (most games here are being played at 2400).
I don't fight combat's unless I need too. It sounds silly for a combat list, but I'll only fight fights I'm fairly sure I'm going win and the double treb means that most of the time, you can actually outshoot most lists. Heavens magic is something special over Life mainly because you can cast all just the 5th and 6th spells on 2 dice, this means you've got only a 1 in 36 chance to miscast and when your debuffing the enemy/buffing yourselves your just fantastic with big lances. The Pegasus knights mean you can pick fights as they've got a 70%odd chance of making a 19" charge. It just taking some getting used too.
Just one thing, you can't transform if your on a Horse
If you want some tips I'm more than happy to helps

I think the brets avoided the biggest of the editions cavalry nerfs, the lance formation letting you rank in 3's gives you a good chance (dependent on opposition ofc) to overcome enemy ranks and break a unit in one charge still, where as any other cav gets bogged in steadfast. I'm thinking 12 is optimal for that as shown in liam's list. I can see the point with cheap casting heavens competitively but in my heart i don't think i could turn down the chance of high toughness and regrowing 2+ saving knights...
