Experimental rules for the new FW Rapier. Seems a bit OP to me, twin linked str 9 ap 1 gun for 40pts?

Is also ordinance! ouchie that is a lot of pain, relatively easy to kill in return but so would take 3 if they where tournament legal, that would help de-mech some people rather nicely!

couple things stand out to me about the rules:
-AV11 front on an 'artillery' unit (but I guess that's why it also has rules to possibly explode)
-36" range lascannon. not sure I'd trade 12" for AP1 & ordnance

still though it's rather cheap & its a heavy support choice which appeals to the niche IG player that doesn't want to field a bunch of tanks

Ordnance Lascannons, even at a slightly shorter range, make a mockery of any tank killing ability a lascannon has. 2D6 & take the highest? Yes please! Twin linked? Damn right! AP1? *kersplode*

not to mention that it is a LARGE BLAST WEAPON, yup all ordinance unless stated otherwise according the the BRB are large blast (thus the FAQ to state that hellstrike missiles on the valkyry are not large blast.) So where is that Grey Knight Paladins unit? me thinks they might amend the rules slightly before they become official (or it is FW possibly not.)

AP 1 on lascannons would be beautiful for the next edition of the game, and might see it coming back into fashion.

@Pox : that's not correct, you've missed a very important word out of your reading. The Hellstrike FAQ changed no rules (though the Q was FA because lots of people made the same mistake).

Thanks Bara you are right, my boss pointed this out to me and I was like noooooo it not a blast that would make it totally ridiculous - and now can go back and prove him wrong - huzzah.

It just means 2D6 take the highest for penetration. On a twin linked weapon, it's great. On Vegeance Missiles, it's utter pants. Which is why they're never seen.
