Imperial Armour Apocalypse second edition and GW
I thought I would share this from Monday - I sent an email to the events team at GW regarding the new IA Apoc Edition 2 and the "warhammer 40k" rubber stamps - here is my long winded rambling question and their response :
My question (rambling i Know) :
GW response :Hi
Looking at the ToS FAQ, the following was not mentioned so I thought I'd ask the question.
The recent release of "Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition" has Forgeworld units now stamped with either "Apocalypse" or "Warhammer 40,000" - specifying which units can be played in which games. Obviously those stamped with "Warhammer 40,000" are now legal for normal 40k games, but are these now acceptable for GW tournaments such as ToS ?
For a long time Forgeworld units that were not obviously Apoc, have been at the discretion of gamers, so with this new change in tact with the recent IA book and the new rubber stamping, are these units now always legal in standard 40k games and acceptable at TOS?
Many thanks for listening to a long winded, relatively simple question
Cheers
Jamie
I thought it was an interesting response - obvious and also a bit revealing to what might come up in the future.Hi there!
First of all, don’t worry, simple questions are the ones we love!
In this case, the answer is that the Forgeworld “Warhammer 40,000” stamp was simply designed to let you know what had been designed with Warhammer 40,000 in mind rather than apocalypse. At the moment they are currently not supported by the current rules packs of ToS and therefore cannot be used.
However if there are models that would “count as” then feel free to use them, if not with the actual rules.
EG. Contemptors as normal dreadnoughts or Death Korps of Kreig as Gaurdsmen.
Its worth bearing in mind that we have planned an event next year which will open up at least some of the doors to using forgeworld models and rules alongside 40k. Keep an eye out on the events calendar!!#
Thanks a million,

That's it, CJB: you've got me excited. FW units without "asking permission"?!? YES PLEASE!!!
Even if we're talking fairly "mundane" stuff like Leman Russ varients, normal vehicles and so on, that'd be great. Would certainly open up Tau a lot, and Chaos would rub it's hands with glee no doubt.
This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.

Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.

Grey Knights don't go to heaven: they go to hell and regroup.

I'd be happy with no Blight Drones in the Legions codex if and only if this stigma of FW rules is removed and they are regarded as equals on par with Codices and Expansion books.
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Death Guard
Nurgle Daemons
Traitor Guard

Granted, there are some things which are a bit O.o, but they're normally overcosted in FW books anyway. Now, the LR Achilles would be a fun one to try indeed.

This isn't really news in so much as they have previously run an event that allowed both FW units and IA armies at WHW, called Battlefields, I went, it was great fun, but nothing in that e-mail gives me hope GW will pull it's head out of it's arse.
Whether ToS Fantasy allows the CD list will be a more interesting question.......

My local GW bunker is allowing pretty much anything from forgeworld that isn't gargantuan, super heavy, or has structure points in their tournies.
