New to Chaos Daemons, Need help.
Ever since those Realms of Chaos textbooks Tzeentch has always been my favorite. Now with the new plastic horror kits I can make a Tzeentch daemon army for a fraction of the pewter horror price so i picked up 3 boxes. My army looks kinda like this:
This is just a miniature list of what i have so the extra gifts and whatnot that aren't represented visually aren't included.
- Lord of Change
- 19 Pink Horrors with the Changeling, icon and instrument
- 11 Pink Horrors with icon and instrument
- Herald of Tzeentch on Disc of Tzeentch
- Daemon Prince (Metal CSM one)
I've liked how it's performed against Ork and Tyranid players, but I've had some pretty humiliating defeats against Vehicle heavy Eldar and Dark Eldar armies. Anyone have advice For a newer daemon player?
(I've had some nasty defeats when fighting grey knights but that's kinda expected)

You have 30 Horrors? Perfect. 6 squads of 5 with Bolt of Tzeentch. That should sort out your vehicle problem fairly well.
Also being Tzeentch, you have access to 2 of the best units in the codex - Flamers and Tzeentch Heralds on Chariots (with Master of Sorcery, We Are Legion and Bolt of Tzeentch), you'd probably do well to include them somewhere.
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Death Guard
Nurgle Daemons
Traitor Guard

im a huge advocate of flamers, probably one of the best breath weapons in the game, and also can stun land raiders if need be.
definitley should take several small units of horrors with bolt. that will help. more daemon princes could help.
dont be afraid to play around with all the gifts, ive had alot of fun spamming the gift that turns ppl in spawns. thats alot of fun ha ha, sorry been a while since i played my daemons so my memory is alittle fuzzy.

This.
Maybe give your Prince some wings and some shooty options, gives him the chance to shoot and assault. Monsterous creatures make short work of most vehicles, and the wings make it hard for most anything to run away from you. I use my Blood Thirster to take out vehicles, but Princes can do it just as easily.
Not to mention like Pyro said, Bolts are the way your going to take out vehicles. That or hit them with Breath of Chaos and glance them to death, but the bolt is more reliable if your not going with flying monsters.
Flamers are great, I usually run them in 2 squads of 4, but if your going a Tzeentch theme, I can't see why you wouldn't run 3 squads.
Also, Soul Grinders fit any theme and are a great choice IMO.

The Chariots of Tzeentch are dreadfully good, take a look as well at the daemon princes with the mark of tzeentch. With a BS of 5 and bolt of tzeentch and daemonic gaze they are very good at taking out vehicles and a lot more reliable then a Soulgrinder. Their 4+ invulnerable save will also give them some staying power against armies that have a lot of anti-tank weapons that are useless against a daemon army without SOulgrinders (that'll teach those melta/missile mauncher spammers!).

I definately could spam 5 man horror squads with bolts of Tzeentch now that you mention it. I could just decide to change my unit size before the game if I know I'm facing a vehicle army, otherwise I worry about giving my opponent easy kill point. Good advice right there.
This does mean that I'm getting new units now lol. I've got $97 canadian to play with which gives me a few options as listed below.
(1) Box of Tzeentch screamers $45 and a lord of Tzeentch on disc $40 converted into a pair of Tzeentch Heralds on chariot.=$85
(2) Two Daemon prince kits at $40 each ===$80
(3) Three boxes of Tzeentch Flamers at $30 each ==== $90
(4) One box of Tzeentch Screamers at $45 and a Daemon prince at $40. Converts to a Tzeentch chariot a squad of three screamers + Daemon prince
Any other suggestions or advice before I make a regrettable and expensive mistake?

If I may offer some advice, some opponents will not tolerate list tailoring (choosing which list to use after you know your opponents list type specifically to counter it) especially in tournament settings, if you want to avoid that, you could field 2 units of 10 and 2 units of 5, so as to avoid any conflict with more dickish opponents

Most of the time i make up my list once my opponent and I agree on a points total. The group I play with is made up of people who have numerous armies at differant points totals. We just dont allow squad size adjustments once the mission type has been determined.
I have some good news too! For xmas my family and friends all got me Daemons. which included:
1 Daemon prince plastic kit
2 packs of Pink horrors
1 Box of Flamers
1 Herald of Tzeentch
Once I get the Screamers of tzeentch I'll be sitting at around 1800 points which is about as large as non-campaign games get here. Now I just need some tactical advice daemons are very differant to the IG GK and DE armies that I normally play.

Going for a 1000pts 1250pts 1500pts 1800pts 2000pts. No idea what sort of units are appropriate for various sized matches. There isn't really a standard game size with the local gamers here, so I plan on bringing 2000 pts with me and having optional army lists for the differant sizes. So I would greatly appreciate any advice on army composition.
