Burna wagons!

Hey!

I have my hands on a Tau hammerhead with some battle malfunctions, and my Mek Geargutz is just aching to loot it! There just isn't enough fire on the battlefield in my games so I was thinking of making it into the following:

1x Looted Wagon - Scorcha, RPJ, Grots, Plates, Ram - 75
11x Burna Boyz - - 165
1x Big Mek - Burna, KFF, Bosspole, Squig, Cybork. - 135

375 for the lot! Here's my thinking. (Entirely hypothetical!)

The wagon is cheap points wise, and with red paint it will give them that extra distance. Thanks to the ram, any ork that "Presses dat" may just tankshock an enemy, ready for the burnas to rip apart. The scorcha just adds another template providing it has moved 7" or less (still a decent size of the board considering the range of the burna template. And the plates and grots are just to help it keep moving if the enemy decides to focus their fire on it.

The 11 burnas and big mek should provide PLENTY of damage with their templates, and if forced to disembark, that's 11 power weapons to fight against. The squig will give that power weapon another attack, and the pole will stop casualties getting in the way of mob rule. The KFF I'm torn over, because I'm not fully sure how it works. Does the wagon get the obscured target rule when he is embarked? And will my burnas get a cover save as soon as they are forced out?


This being said, shall I just stick them in a trukk to save 20 points? Losing a skorcha and some armour if I remember, but it's cheaper and there's nothing to press.

Just my thoughts. Seems nice as an anti infantry monster but wondering if there are any more experienced wagoners to help Ceers!

Hmmm ... the idea sounds tempting ... but its not a propa BurnaWagon. Thats more like 15 Burnaboyz in a BW, with rolla if u like and a big Mek KFF. I would stay away from Looted Wagons unless you use it as a boomwagon.

Cheers for teh reply! Reading up my codex I think you're right in choosing BW over Looted for burnas. They're going head down, arse up and charging with their face, and a BW is just better at that, especially with a deffrolla!


I am VERY interested in fielding a boomgun however, I only play friendly games but I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to make it points wise. I'd love to keep it as cheap as possible, but stuff like the extra guns just seem nice encase of weapon destroyed, so it isn't completely useless.
