    Epidimius and the Nurgle Horde

    Wow, I had my doubts.

But The Plague Father and 3 Nurgle Princes pounded them out of me.

By the time the Nurglings and the 4 previously mentioned monsters were done with me, they had racked up 23 kills for Epidimus.

40 Plague Bearers with 3+ FNP and Power Weapons that wound on 2+. Scary.

Since my buddy and I picked up the Codex we have been playing with different themes and units to see what we like, and what works.

So far I am more for Khorne, he likes Nurgle. But we both agree Tzeentch is a must. I must say though, he brought some respect for the Papa Nurgle, Nurglings, and Epidimus in the fight we had tonight.

Up next for me, Slaanesh and Pavane.

On a quick side note, in game 1 my Khorne army cut down his Necrons.

The biggest problem with a Mono-Nurgle army is cracking vehicles. You need a GUO and 3 Princes, and that's all you've got, and it's pretty expensive. You also have to weather all the enemy firepower while you crack the vehicles before you get to the juicy insides to up the Tally. At that point you don't have the numbers to make up for Nurgle's inherent lack of punch to get the Tally going enough. It's actually really hard for a Nurgle army to get the 20+ kills in a single game. Out of the hundreds of games I played with my Mono-Nurgle list, only about 10% of them did I get the Tally maxed out, and winning the game coincides with the Tally getting maxed unsurprisingly.

It's why, despite being the Mono-Nurgle fanatic I am, I swapped my Princes for Soulgrinders, Epidemius for Tzeentch Heralds on Chariots (Blight Drones), and added in some Horrors (Crypt Ghouls) and Flamers (Warmachine Cryx Bile Thralls). My army was a lot more successful with those changes...until Grey Knights hit. Now I shelved my Daemons in favour of Dark Eldar and Necrons.

Agreed with Pyro although I have to say that taking Kugath helps a lot as I've seen his template kill of quite a few models early on in the game (if they're not in a vehicle of course). I remember one game with the mono-Nurgle list in which I managed to hit a unit of 30 orcs in the first turn killing of 15 of them before my opponent had a chance to react. Of course you need a lot of points for Ku'Gath.

In all fairnes, Pyro is absolutely correct in stating that a mono Nurgle list will always struggle with a mech list and as a lot of lists out there are still mech based they'll never perform very well in a tournament scene. They are however quite fun to play around with and very fluffy...

Oh I know, my buddy fielded his mono nurgle list in a 3 way against my orks and my brothers nids, let the Princes fly around doing work, Deep struk Ku'gath in the middle of the board so I rammed him with my deff rolla and he laughed all 3 wounds off, then killed my wagon, then killed the 19 boyz plus nob that assaulted him.

That on top of the 10 lootas that a prince and nurglings (yes nurglings, I have horrible luck against them) had killed earlier in the game, gave him his tally by turn 3 and 40 unmolested Plague Bearers to romp across the field with.

It was quite the site and I was impressed with how my buddy handled the mono-nurgle army, I am going to be working mono-Slaanesh in my next go, working pavane.

Exactly, fun and fluffy, thats our style, we play at shops, but not in tourneys, and we mostly get down at home.

We try a lot of things until we get a regular formula, but even then our lists are always changing, it adds a lot of spice to the game.

We rotate Orks, Marines, Nids, Necrons, and Daemons so there are always new looks coming too the table.

BUT, I do take note on what is "Popular" for tournament use, as i am curious and think I have the skillz to put the WAAAAAAAAAAAAGHH! down on some unsuspecting regulars.

So I always appriciate the input gents. cheers!

Yeah I never play in tournaments, but I found that even in friendly games I just got slaughtered over and over, which isn't fun for anyone. I did have Ku'Gath early on in my Mono-Nurgle career, but I dropped him in favour of 150pts worth of Plaguebearers and a Great Unclean One. I actually found I was more successful without Ku'Gath than I was with him purely because of how many points he deprived me in other slots.

Ya, Thats my problem with the Fate Weaver, even though he sounds amazing, he is 330 points or something. On top of that doesn't he vanish if he fails a leadership test after suffering a wound?

    Too pricy, and too risky.

Fateweaver is all right as he actually benefits his army providing they clump up around him. Bloodcrushers with re-rollable saves is not something to take lightly.

Ku'Gath on the other hand is 300pts of a 24" large blast that wounds on a 4+

I find Epidemus works well when accompanied by 3 other Nurgle Heralds with Breath of Chaos, coming in as close as possible to the enemy and vomiting all over them, racking up the kills early on with their flamer templates. Even if those heralds on last a turn, that's a lot of wounds for the tallyman rule
