    better equipped guardmen?

well i am getting back into guard, One thing that always seemed to bother me was the fact that guardsmen seem so poorly equipped for war, granted they had short life expediencies, but that doesnt mean they cant survive for a while when there not fighting.

i look at modern day marines and soldiers and there packing at least 75+ pounds of gear, for all there provisions and stuff. yes they take this stuff off when there fighting to not bog them down but then they still have a bunch of pouches and gear for extended battles and all you seem to be able to give standard guardsmen are a pouch for one clip and a canteen. theres gotta be more gear you can put on them to make them appear more combat prepared

Well. The forgeworld kits offer some options - the various upgrade sets and the like, such as http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhamme...RADE-PACK.html, http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhamme...MENT-PACK.html, or http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhamme...MENT-PACK.html.

Alternatively, Maxmini offer some nice conversion stuff, like http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.ph...products_id=19. Their online store is well worth perusing, especially the Kromlech stuff if you're into Orks.

The Space Marine scouts come with a TON of extra pouches and grenades and such... I don't know how well it would meld into a guard mini, but the bits are there...

Pssh, we're talking Guardsmen though. They don't need extra gear, as they just pick out what they want from pile of dead.

Plus I like it because it adds to the underdog theme. These guys are average joes, often fresh out of Boot. They don't need fancy do-dads to stomp your face... they have pure mass.

    Ammo? Check.
    Water? Check.
    Rations? Check.

    Give'm hell soldier!

Listen up! What we need is this! Yes, calcium! If we have enough calcium, we can do anything! Trouble with tests? Fighting with your parents? Some girl you like? Odiferous nethers? If you have enough calcium, all of these can be solved!

Well, there's always catachans. They're still technically guardsmen (stats) and they come with some cool body variants

Honestly I have to agree with Malk, it really speaks to how the guard commanders see their soldiers. I really could see them thinking to themselves, "Rations? Wait there was someone that lived long enough to need rations? Huh...uh well our bad. Give the man some food and a shotgun cus apparently he is now a veteran."

Well due to budget restraints the small little canteen packs and other pouches prove to be sufficient for time. And i also realised that painting all those pouches is going be a pian >_<
