Tyranids vs The Flood (Halo)
Well... Two extra-galactic life extinguishing hyper evolved monster races... Who do you think would win?
I'm torn- I'm wondering how powerful the flood transformed tyranid would be, but the tyranids have the hive fleet. I think the tyranids would win overall.

Away we go to 40k background. Enjoy your new home, little thread.4
Also, I expect a curbstomp for the Tyranids. They are more adaptable, have a powerful space fleet, more numbers, an replenish numbers without relying on the enemy dying. The Flood are really not that much of a threat to the Tyranids past specific battlefields as Tyranid do not return ot the hive ships after an invasion. They get digested just like everything else. Also, without a fleet to stop Tyranids from harvesting planet (I highly doubt they could assimilate a hive ship) they're going to get outpaced.
Dr. Manfredel is wrong. That kind of thinking is never justified.

The flood is more viral like and consume both living and dead bodies. So unfortunately they have an edge cause you can't fight a virus with claws and guns. However the most Likley outcome is a totally new race. The flood consumes it's hosts and it's DNA much like the tyranids do. On a micro level it's only natural two unstable species would at some point meld. I'd hate to fight what ever it is that would produce. >

This simply comes down to an un-answerable question, can the Flood infect Tyranids. If yes, the Flood will win, since eventually the Tyranid attrition warfare will fail them. If not, which I suspect since the tyranids are well known to be able to fight of viruses (they managed to become immune to the life-eater virus), then the tyranids stomp, any forces that do fall to the flood at quickly destroyed.

well on the other hand the tyranids are very adaptable, what if they adapted a new species that happened to counter flood. theres an idea.
now thinking about it, if the true halo flood was introduced into the 40k then anything aside from demons and necrons are essentially screwed.

Flood-Tyranids would be created by the war, which would then destroy everything. Good game Imperium, but sorry, they win.

Well, the races of 40k certainly have the tech to fight back. Virus bombs, The Void Spinner and the various planetary destruction weapons could certainly stop the Flood in their tracks. One problem the flood would have with anything but tyranids, orks and tau, is that they really can't navigate the warp well enough to be a threat, any ship they get hold of is going to be reduced to dolphin diving (ala the tau) or random jumps, meaning they can't effectively engage other forces.

I don't know, Flood have proven themselves pretty capable of fast travel, if by mere chance or luck, but they always seem to get there... And they are hardy like none other. In fact, the Forerunners had to destroy almost their entire civilization in order to stop them, and they seem to me to be LIGHTYEARS ahead of anything in 40K when it comes to technology, able to create planet sized ringworlds as well as weapons that can wipe out entire galactic sectors in the blink of an eye.

I was at a Babylon Five convention a few years ago and Peter Jurasik (Londo) related an anecdote from the series creator, J. Michael Straczynsk, that stuck with me when I read questions like these. When asked how fast Star Furies could travel he said, "At the speed of plot." So following that, I'd say the Tyranids vs. Flood battle would be won by whichever side the script writer was getting paid by.

p.s. I vote Tyranids for the win!

The thing is splicer, the Flood must rely on the tech of the races they have assimilated, they don't make it themselves. Without access to Navigators, they are never going to get anywhere useful in the 40k universe. They will take a few worlds, but never manage to match the strength of arms in terms of numbers. the Forerunners were screwed because the Flood had access to their Tech.

if i rememeber correctly flood organisms were also able to assimilate memory's and minds of those infected, getting access to what that person was able to do and share it with the rest of the flood. so essentially they can assimilate navigators and possibly develop a warp presence granted that will make them susceptible to chaos......wait Chaos flood? Nurgle flood? WERE DOOMED!!!!
