HQ choices
Okay so i'm new to the game and got to play a learning game with a tau army at the game shop near my home. Awesome since i want to be a tau army guy anyway.
While planning a army i chose a crisis suit commander. He did okay but i wasn't satisfied with the end result(Orks beat me bad XD) Reading my codex i notice it said farsight can't use ethereals or shadowsun in its army as hq choices. That's fine because i want to use shadowsun. Reading her info i didn't see it say i cant use the ethereal guy aun'va. Does this mean i could choose both as HQ choices given the option to and points to take a second Hq choice?

Well what configuration of weapons and support systems did you have on the battlesuit when you played orks? It may have just ben your chosen configuration. shadowsun is not a bad option but I would highly reccomend you give the Battlesuit commander another try.

my commander had a fusion blaster and if i remember that was all for weapons. his body guards had a missile pod, and plasma rifle, one had twin linked plasma rifles and each had support gear. had some shield drones attached to the unit. the commander had all the useful upgrades from the wargear list.
Would the ethereal be of any use in the army? I mean asides from sending him into suicide for the preferred enemy bonus?

i typically would use the flamers on deathrains if i knew i was facing nids or orks, because more then likely your facing a horde and they will close on you, u cant stop it, you can thin them out before the charge but its extremely hard to stop a horde army from reaching you due to the sheer
model count.

i try to run all of my suits with twin linked and a targeting array so i can almost always hit and almost always would as opposed to the fireknife set up where you throw out shots but they are all crappy shots (i know ill get guff for that but oh well) so so suits can be more efficient in killing and maneuvering as opposed to hitting half of the time(or less depending on your rolls) and then wounding a few, people have argued that it usually will balance out to the same so more shots is better but i prefer more of a sure thing.
my commander has a TL fusion blaster, and the cylionic (i cant spell today) blaster its low strength but its good at killing infantry.
as well as a shield drone for ID protection
