Shocktroopers

Hi,

I was wondering what you guys make of Shock troopers. For example I have 4 squads of ten of them and I put the company commander within 12'' of all of them so when I play my tau/tyranid/necron opponent I always order ''First rank fire!Second Rank fire!'' command and it usually kills a lot of them. It works especially on tau but only cuz the guy who plays tau in the club is always trying to get closer and into close combat for some reason and so I usually manage to kill them. Anyways I was wondering how you guys use your shock troops if you use them at all and do you guys use them as veterans, conscripts, penal legions or what? Also if you could say some tactics on what you would do with them pls tell me.

vets with plasma and melta in chims are effective , drive by fun for all . dont use storm troopers TBH ( i assume thats what you mean by shock troops)
If you do mean storm troopers then 4 squads of them is illegal as your only allowed 3 elite choices in the FOC and tbh theres better elite choices to be had

The box of cadian shock troops can be used to as all of the things like you said, veterans are probably the most common form simply because they get the most weapon options and are better at shooting. Lasguns work pretty well when they focus fire and use FRFSRF. Guardsmen can be used for anything from holding objectives to covering the flanks of your tanks to cleaning up remains of squads that your tanks have blasted apart. The term "shocktrooper" also applies primarily to the Cadians. If you are playing as Vostroyans, Catachan, Valahallan, Tallarn, Mordian, Death Corp of Kreig, or Armageddon Steel Legion your infantry are not referred to as Shocktroopers. However as a whole infantry are called guardsmen.

Overall not really good at anything but volumes of fire.

They are good at 'dying'.

ah i see , i only use them as meat shields and to get heavy weaons teams , their Ballistic skill and lasguns are not a good combo

they usually serve me well, unfortunately for me the ''dice God'' has cursed me with ones and twos. I just keep rolling them and I really cant wound anything cuz I just suck at rolling.
