    Kasrkin Troopers

They are not in the IG codex. Does anyone know what their profile is or what they may represent eg: they are equal to stormtroopers or something?

Kasrkins are Cadian Stormtroopers, nothing more. I think they were originally created for the Armageddon Campaign a few years ago. Using them as straight-out Storm Troopers is fine though, many people do.

it doesnt make much sense though as they are 25 pounds (in england) and you could just buy a squad of guardsmen for 18 pounds. I dont see why GW made them cuz its just more money for the same thing. The only difference is they look a bit cooler with their helmets.

Also the profile for Storm Troopers includes Carapace Armor, as opposed to the Flak Armor of a Guardsman. So they look like they have more armor, they also have different guns. So the models are justified.

I prefer to purchase marines second hand, they have more experience that way

They're also metal, making them even more bulkier and cooler-looking.

GW introduced several different styles of stormtroopers so that people had variety. So you could field troops that looked a bit like Russian cossacks (Vostroyan), WW2 Eastern Front winter clothed (Valhallan), 19th century (Mordian), German WW1/2 (Mordian), US Vietnam vets (Catachan), and desert warfare (Tallarn).

As they werent expected to sell in bulk, they were necessarily white metal (finecast wasnt around then) - although Catachan got as far as plastic, and still have a battalion set.

I believe that there were some WD articles with 'localised' rules but by and large these have gone by the wayside, and they are just a way of getting a different look on the gameboard. Some of the localised Catachan rules got incorporated into the last IG codex - eg Rambo, er I mean Marbo.

If you like white metal and value for money, you can buy most of these squads for £20.50 for 10 white metal models - an absolute bargain! They look unusual on the battlefield, a striking difference to the 'vanilla' IG trooper. In fact if I was building an IG army now, it would definitely be in one of these WM flavours. Sadly they are likely to be discontinued rather than relaunched as finecast, so this is a great time to be getting your IG army together!

This is a good deal. Note the £20.50 box is 10x lasgun Guardsmen/Veterans; the Sergeant, special weapons and heavy weapons are separate and cost more. These metal regiments aren't modelled with carapace so are not really suitable for Stormtroopers apart from maybe the Valhallans in their greatcoats (a decent option for 'Grenadier' Veterans).

Kasrkin are just alternative Storm Troopers. In a previous Imperial Guard codex some regiments could buy 0-3 Storm Troopers as Troops, and others as Elites. Hence the two different model types would allow you to tell them apart.

Paint ein's stuff. ££: Chaos Space Marines in 40K, Tech Priests / Mechanicus in 40K and Battlefleet Gothic, Ariadna in Infinity. PM if interested or check my profile area.

cuz its just more money for the same thing, is a reason for you not to buy them and a reason for GW to make them. Of course, they look cool.
