My suggestion, take the hyperphase sword and dispersion shields. The shields give them a 4+ invulnerable save, and since they're such a huge threat to the opponent, this will allow them to survive longer. It can also deflect shots to enemies 6'' away when you pass your invulnerable save. The swords are power weapons making them close-combat beasts. A tactic I always use is I deploy 8-10 lychguards in a straight line and use them as moving cover for my immortals/warriors and even scarabs. I often use them to take out elite units like terminators, assault marines, etc.

The only thing about warscythes is that they're str 7 2D6 AP on vehicles. (power weapons)If you're lookin' to tank hunt, go with the scythes. Just make sure they're well protected. The 3+ save is handy, but be prepared to get fired at a lot. When you play against orks (and maybe tyranids), you probably want to use the scythes because they don't have much firepower that can penetrate 3+ armor. (so you won't be needing the 4+ invuln)

    Imperial Guard: 3700pts Necrons: 2500pts (1915pts painted)

I always go sword/shield. The overlord and the court's attached lord for 7 Scythe attacks (5 w/o the charge) are enough 2d6 and Str7 PW, the rest of them str5 PW will carry you through. It's the best of both worlds.

    W/L/D (1v1/)
    Eldar- 22/2/2
    Necrons- 4/2/0

agree without sword and board they are to easy to kill. Got to give them a res orb too, a single roll of a 4 and it has just paid for itself.

Sword and Shield. You can give them a Warscythe Overlord or Lord for the Warscythe.

Stick with the sword and shield. They are still S5 iirc, which is still great. There are better options in the game for tank hunting than giving thes guys warschythes

Good judgement comes from experience, alot of that comes from bad judgement

Well now it seems my choice is made, I went with the sword & board option like most were telling me to do, but then I ruined the shield when cutting off the sprue.
    Warsythes it is then! (unfortunately)
On the bright side, they are HUGE MOTHER####### AXES, so yea...

Any other good point apart from the look?

BTW: I will be getting another set of lychguard for the shields now.

Funny I had the same problem with the 1st shield good thing I'm a collector as well as gamer for Necrons. Even has old 2nd edition Necron models. Anyway I equiped 5 of them with Warscythes and then 10 of their with sword and shield. ^^

What would happen? If 4 models representing all my 4 armies would talk to each other.

Space Marine says: Kill all Xenos!
Eldar says: Well this is going to a civilized conversation, MONKEIGH!
    Necrons says: 01010100010101
Dark Eldar says: Hold on everyone! Before we are starting to have an enjoyable little slaughter has anyone seen my Cocaine? I serious need to get high!

I have my pariahs to function as Lychgaurd (bought 10 for 11.5€ a piece ^^ crazy me) And I say, well when they activate their scythes they loose their 4+inv and gain more strength as they power charge their awesome scythes, when they do use the power to function for their 4+ inv then they can still use their scythes but less charged (str 5 power weapon attacks) got my fluff there ^^ and people find the theory awesome. This way I don't need to "proxy" and gives a little unique kick to my army in contradiction with new necron lovers who can't acces these models anymore. But guys who have them, feel free to use my theory ^^ new necron players, buy yourself the models! they are cheap ><
