    Instrumental Metal

i am a metal fan, but ive never really liked The hardcore screaming and groaning that came with it, so ive gone and searched for Instrumental metal, because the epic instruments are what i like to listen to

    Bands like Blotted science

    and such

EdmundBlack: My cock has ended the world. I'll put that on my cv.
SourImplant: What's the name of that cantina you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?
Coldfire: I get my balls ripped off and shoved into my eye sockets by a burley man who then makes a joke about me skullfucking myself.

Blotted Science is AMAZING. They have Necrophagist's old drummer (which is a good band, actually- not a lot of gutteral vocals, very good instrumentally) and Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse on bass Checked out their new EP that came out a few months ago?

Anyway... there are no bands really like Blotted Science, but I know a lot of really good, technical/prog metal instrumental bands that have their own unique sound but fall in the same category as Blotted Science (although really, Blotted Science is instrumental death metal... but close enough >.>) but they're not as heavy as Blotted Science, since Blotted Science is basically prog/tech death metal... with no vocals.

    Some bands being:
-Animals As Leaders (My favorite progressive/space-metal/jazz/fusion/electronic/djent band. THE best. And they're colorful. :p)
-Between The Buried And Me (Well... there's vocals here. BUT. He sings normal too. BUT! Their 5th album, Alaska, had a special bonus CD that had their songs instrumental, so a whole album of theirs is instrumental, aside from the fact that they already have some instrumentals in prev. albums and in the Alaska album itself.)
    -Else
-Gru (Similar to AAL; more space-metal-y, though.)
-Liquid Tension Experiment (Has members from the prog metal band, Dream Theater... without the vocals, = YES. I prefer their second album since its heavier.)
-Lost Among Us (This is a small, local band someplace that I happened to stumble upon on the Minecraft forums. They're pretty good. Their first/debut album went out just a few days ago, and its free and they're letting anyone download it until sometime in February- check out their facebook page to see where they have it.)

    And their best songs, respectively:

    -Animals As Leaders
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqYPhe18Wjs
(The beginning is... weird, trust me, but a minute in the song gets better, especially the light/solo parts.)

    -BtBaM
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vARJseGYUOg
(The solo that starts at 4:45 is probably one of the most amazing solos I've heard. BtBaM is one of those few bands that make me want to pick up the guitar- an instrument that I see much more boring than the bass or drums)

    -Else
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut7wbELOn4E

    -Gru
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3skzTposZU
(Only band that is similar to Animals As Leaders. Even then, Gru isn't that jazzy, nor electronic, but very... "space metal"-y, like AAL)

    -Liquid Tension Experiment
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R54CtOOH3Qg

    -Lost Among Us
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXrWLEgbRJk

Edit: Scale The Summit, An Endless Sporadic, and Bulb are also good instrumental bands/projects. Don't have time to put a lot of info on them but if you have time youtube them.

I'll second Animals as Leaders as neat instrumental metal.

My advice, though, would be to try to enjoy the hardcore vocals. Some are just plain bad, but there is a sublimity to some vocals.

I'd recommend Opeth. Here's a metal song with no metal vocals:

    screaming isn't metal, it's crap.

genres you should consider are fantasy or hair metal. Dragonforce is a reasonable example. They're not great...but decent instrumental and more lilted vocals

Screaming can be a part of metal and, whilst I'm not a fan of a lot of it, there are some songs that are better for having some.

Anyway, I mainly came on here to give a thumbs up for this thread! It's been a while since I've found some new bands that I like and I got a whole bunch from here Thanks!

Though I wasn't a fan of that metal dubstep song...

while a good first post, I suppose....perhaps resurrecting a thread from months ago is not terribly useful
