posting signatures

Ive always wondered why people do there little signatures. like at the end of every post of theres theyll put like a little dash and the first letter of there screen name. why? i honestly dont see the purpose of this, isnt that what your signature is for? we all know what your name is by looking at the left of your post. its not like im reading a post and wonder "Who wrote this? oh wow im glad they let me know by the that little letter there at the bottom"

I guess it is kindly mannered.

I think it's just a style thing, like posting in a different color or using all itallics.

I find it is stylistic and just as useful as someone writing their name at the end of a letter or email. The reader obviously know's who it is, it's just there from habit and is the norm.

Every one add signature just to convey his/her good thinking,
In other signature used just for style.

I included "initials" in my post sig so other folks didn't feel the need to type out my whole user name... or shorten it to "Daddy" - which is kinda creepy...
