looking to start sisters looking for help
there doesnt seem to be much love on the internet for sisters, is everyone still learning the update or are they way under powered?
im not sure what all i want to buy the only things for sure i know i want to run is 3 peniten engines and 3 excorsist. jacobus and saint celestine. u like the battle conclave models and rules so i will a squad of them, not sure how many rhinos and immolators ill need. i figure probably at least 3 each?
other armies i play are daemons, dark eldar and tau. looking for advice.
also if you take 3 engines does that make them a squadron or 3 independant walkers?

The penitent engines can run in squads of up to three, so they only count as 1 heavy weapons choice. The general consensus is to run exorcist battle tanks as your heavy weapons option, but you can probably skate by with just two rather then three. Saint Celestine is a must have for your HQ, and though I haven't heard jack-squat about jacobus he looks pretty legit to me as a secondary character for higher point games. As for rhinos, you want as many as you can reasonably field. Immolators, while awesome in many respects can only hold 6 models and have the same armor rating as rhinos, so for more points all you get is a mobile heavy flamer platform that WILL be exploded by turn 3, and that's if your opponent is not running a fair number of anti-armor weapons.
Long story short: Penitent okay if you also run exorcists
Celestine is a must
Go for rhinos, not immolators

Take an Immolator as fast strike BECAUSE it will be exploded at turn 3

If you have an Immolator on the field, you know where the other guy will fire. The Immo is the perfect mean of diversion, too powerfull to be ignored by the ennemy, cheap enough to be lost, perfect to play mind games. Any player that saw a squad of Dominion rush out of an Immo to drown him in an ocean of flame (4 flamer squad) or melt away his beloved Termies (4 melta squad ) will get obsessed by that vehicule, specially if he does not know were your dominion squad is - hidden in a Rhino or the Immo

Only works if you play 'secret deployment'...which is not the usual.

You are right, it is even the official tournament norm (p92 rulebook). In frendly game, "fog of war" may involve limited disclosure to spice the game with the opportunity to pull a trump card.
This been said, even in open deployment, an Immo (empty or not) is a fire magnet. That was the key point of the post.

They haven't released them in pdf format just yet. It's out there, somewhere ...
Might be able to get the WD copies off of ebay perhaps.

I find that 3 PEs, 2 exorcists, and an immolator or two really messes with people's target priority. They're all things that most people want to be dead, dead, dead, but that's a lot of AV fire to be certain to kill all of it, so it's likely at least some of that will slip through.
The even better scenario is that people don't fear the PEs enough, and you teach them the proper respect the hard way.

I do like having the option of taking 3 Penitent Engines so that I can field 2 Exorcists. But with Squadron Rules it becomes more of a pain instead of having them as 3 Independent Walkers. Most people are agreeing to take 3 Exorcists instead because of the survivability and how many times you get to fire at your enemies without becoming an immobilized husk of a unit not being able to do any good because of how close ranged it is.
Walk softly and carry a big gun.
