how many novel are using CSM as main character?
I want to read more background story about CSM, is there any good novel about CSM? Especially, Thousand Son, I have one more question, why CSM do not have thunderhammer and shield?

The Word Bearers and Iron Warriors series are worth a look, www.blacklibrary.com for more information.
As for TH/SS, GW's infinite wisdom, there's probably a reason. More likely than not they'll appear in the new codex though.

Thunder hammers and SS werent around preheresy. The same is true of storm bolters and many other weapons. They have twin linked bolter which is a storm bolters predecessor. In the 2nd edition codex(i think 2nd) you were allowed to have loyalist marine equiptment for 20% cost.Wish they still did that.

CSM Black Library books
Other than novels in the "Heresy" series, in the "present" 40Kverse, there are 2 books of the Night Lords series out, which are especially good - Soul Hunter & Blood Reaver based around the stories of Talos who was an apothacary of the Night Lords Legion, and in the inner circle of the Primarch, but is now on the Covenant of Blood in the Warband of "The Exalted" (there is also an Audio out called "Throne of Lies" which I enjoyed) There was a previous unrelated Night Lords Novel about Commander Sahaal which was based around the fact that he seems to be a bit out of touch with the present day evolution of the Night Lords Called "Lord of the Night"
The Iron Warriors and the Charactor Honsou A Warsmith, feature prominantly on the Ultramarine 6 book series starting with "Nightbringer" and ending with The Chapters Due, Honsou & the IW also had a stand alone book called Storm of Iron which was very good.
The book I am reading at present is the "Gildar Rift" which has Huron Blackheart and the Red Corsairs as the arch rival to the Silver Skulls which I am enjoying.
With ref to your Thousand Sons question, the TS are the main protagonists in Battle of the Fang and Ahriman features heavily in Atlas Infernal which was quite good. These are the ones that spring to mind for me. There are probabally more but Im sure these will keep you going for now. ...... Cheers MD

Look for A Thousand Sons by Graham McNeill and Prospero Burns by Dan Abnett for Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons. Both very good reads and the first book A Thousand Sons is writen in the veiw of Ahzek Ahriman for most of it, gives a lot of background on them and a very good look into why they have gone to "the darkside"

Any of the above in Red are either first of a series or stand alone books (as stated?) but if you want to be totally chronological the "A Thousand Sons" book as stated by GKnight is as about as "first" as you can get presently ..... cheers MD

Storm of Iron is a good start point if you want it in a view of a CSM that doesnt come off as just a bloodthirsty demon marine, the "protaganist" of the book on the CSM is actually presented as having some emotion perhaps even regret in some points in the story. (But yes he is still a BAMF)
