At first I thought something else, but as I understand you roll for the weirdboy power during the ork shooting phase only (Ork codex, p 37). So you wouldn't roll for the power during either your or your opponent's assault phase. I believe your weirdboy would simply use whatever power is already in effect from your shooting phase, i.e. if you had rolled say a 1 - 3 your weirdboy would be treated as if he had a power weapon. If your opponent went first on turn one, then your weirdboy would simply get his three normal attacks as a character in the assault because there would have been no ork shooting phase yet for your weirdboy to get his power activation yet.

I'd be curious to read if I anyone else thinks I am correct or not. I have a weirdboy too in my army, though I haven't made much use of him yet.

Yes, you roll for your Weirdboy at the start of your shooting phase...

First you roll for the power...

Then roll a Leadership test (remember that mob rule counts). If you pass, then apply the power accordingly.

A roll of a 2 or 3 counts as a shooting attack... but since your Wierdboy has no weapons it doesn't really matter for him. If he does use a shooting attack then he and any squad he's attached to still have to target the same unit.

The Wierdboy has no weapons... 3A in his profile are made as regular attacks... UNLESS he is already locked in combat at the beginning of the shooting phase... then a roll of 1, 2 or 3 means he gets power weapon attacks instead.

... or something close to that...

So to answer the original question... you should have rolled for a power in your shooting phase, the roll of a 6 for the Waaagh! would apply to your army (giving them Fleet of Foot rule) for that turn.

You don't get to roll for a power in your opponents turn... ever.
