    thousand sons army

i've always loved the thousand sons and their fluff, and reading their point values i had to pick my jaw up off of the floor,

now, with that said i still want to run them because i like them and i think i have enough tact to run them well, but i dont see much tank killing power but are they even viable to run for the points, and the codex that is a little out of date? or should i wait until they put out the new book (which could come soon or could come later) is it worth it?

    thanks!!

I personally run a Kson Army and LOVE every sec of it.

I normally go with 2-3 squads of Ksons as troops (W/ Rhinos and dozier blades always) + a bare minimum of 2 defilers (1 With all Close Combat Arms) + Term Lord (DW and Mot). Add in 5-10 Terminators (Power Fist, Mark of Tzneech, and Lightning Clawss) with a land raider. The 2 TW Las Cannons help out some vs Mech lists ... but imho Las Cannons < melta. Some times i drop the LR for a Predator tank decked out in Las Cannons depending on points.

Fighting Hordes? No fear you have defilers for Templates.
MCs? Force Weapons and properly equipped Termies .
Vehicles? Defiler + DS Termies + Melta Bombs on Ksons sorcerers (+ LR w/ 2 TW LC)
    Infantry? Lols ... ksons.
Lots of Plasma/Melta? My entire list minus vehicles have 4++ saves ... that is ridiculousness to a T.

Some things to keep in mind. Ksons are EXPENSIVE units i spend more on a squad of them then on a squad of terminators. So you will always have less troops ... normally 2ish for 1.5k and 3ish for 2k+. Dont doubt their sustainability ... if you lose more then 2-3 a round i question your dice and strategy a bit. The Defilers should give you at least 2-3 rounds of being left alone. And by then your termies should be wreaking so much havoc only 1 or two squads should be left for your ksons. And most likely they will not even get Armor Saves vs you .

awesome!!!! i really love them its sad, although they are expensive to just purchase, so i might wait. as well how many do you see fit to run in a unit? i was thinking 7-12 including a sorcerer makes 8-13 that way they are maneuverable and can take out almost anything

i'm not positive on rhinos yet or not, what would be seen as the best entry for ksons? rhino? or drop pod? or just walking like zombies (uuuuggggghhhh brainssssssss for tzeentch.....)

but still, not positive on how to get them in and out.

    thanks for the reply's though!!

unfortunately, all Chaos Marines are lacking droppods.

as for entry of your TSons. depends on your play style.
if you like taking big squads (11+ models) or hunkering down into a defensive firing possition then rhinos are not necessary

if you want the extra mobility (since slow and purposeful can be drag) rhinos work very well to get a squad around quickly.

as well rhinos do provide a bit a versatility to a list, as they can be used to funnel shots and models since they are effectively mobile barracades you can setup to block/limit line of sight as well as stick between you and your opponent to stall assaults. you don't have to use them as transports the entire time (or any of the time). and overall for just 35pts a pop they don't really impact your list makeup too much (even a pure TSon list can accommodate those costs)

    Army (W/L/D)
    CSM 0/0/0 (70% painted)
    Tyranid 0/0/0 (updating)
    Eldar 1/1/5
