Coolest?
What is, in your view, the "coolest" Marine and why?
Singluar, not squad, but any one from anywhere. Special Characters too, ICs, Loyalist, Chaos or GKs - just from the current crop of Codices.
Any love for a Devastator Sergeant? Scout Sergeant? Khornate Champion, or even a Quorn Champion (Mark of Khorne, but not quite so loopy)?
I've a soft spot for Champions myself, be they Company Champions or Brotherhood Champions. BCs do take it I think because of their superior battle prowess and ability to take on anything with legs that's not a walker and send them packing. Emperor's Champion - uber cool concept, but lacks a little in execution.
So rawr: topic for the topic-gods!
This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.

Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.

Kharn has always been my favorite Marine, reinforced by some of the more recent stories Ive read with him in them including the HH novels. As far as Chapters go, Ive always been partial to the Death Guard, but after reading all the Omnibuses, Id have to say Space Wolves are probably my favorite now.

I like that Shrike guy because he reminds me of Wolverine, and I liked the comics as a kid and found the guy in the recent movies to be cute in a bad boy with a heart of gold kind of way, which many women (myself included) like in the abstract.

Coolest marine:
High Marshal Helbrecht.
Why?
He looks epic. His model has the appearance of striding out to battle. His cape is blowing in the wind the has recently extinguished the ceremonial candles, that flank the socketless gaze of a single skull, mounted high atop his power generator. In one hand he carries a religious relic and the other his faithful power sword. Slung on a chain low under his right arm, a combi-melta, truly ready for anything. A look part that is part calculating general, part fanatical anger, and part i'm gonna kick some @$$ is stamped on his face.
I don't even play BT and can't recall his rules, so this is going off of the look of the model itself.
I prefer to purchase marines second hand, they have more experience that way

That is exactly the point. And good choice indeed.

Special mention go to the Masters of the Chapter, Pedro Kantor, Lord Zhufor, Tyberos, the Legion of the Damned (particularly the one on the bottom left of the squad picture on the website) and Huron Blackheart, but I think my number one is the Ultramarines Honour Guard Chapter Banner.

Not a bad piece. Shame about the crappy choice of weaponry though.
Still, for the purposes of the thread, suitable.

Belial, both fluffwise and on the table.
Fluffwise he's awesome because he outfought Gazzy and another Warboss with only 1 company, survived a one on one with Gazzy, and eventually drove him off. Gazzy only hates Yarrick more than he hates Belial. That's pretty BAMF.
On the table, I love that he's so cheap. It means that I don't automatically have huge expectations for him. When he dies, it's like "meh, that's disappointing." But when he does well, he punches way above his weight. Then I get to revel in him being a badass as he takes down characters and Monstrous Creatures twice his cost.
It helps that he's still one of my favorite models that I've built.
Dr. Manfredel is wrong. That kind of thinking is never justified.

I can't pick just one...
Njal Stormcaller
The newer model in T armor is absolutely amazing. His rules and powers are insane.
Sgt. Telion
Model is a great looking piece, not amazing but a really good sculpt. His cost is low for what he brings to the table.
Abadon the Despoiler
Backstory kicks ass, model is very cool, a powerhouse on the table... what's not to like?

Sanguinor
He soloed Ka-Bandha. Not even GK's can claim they beat a great blood thirster single handedly without any fancy shmancy wargear or the need for psychic powers.
Good judgement comes from experience, alot of that comes from bad judgement

Simply on the model, Astorath. Brilliant expression on his face. not one you'd like to encounter in a dark alley. And the wings are great too.
at the other end of the scale, the Mephiston model is pretty dire. Which is a shame because I use him a lot!

Wolf Scouts - the best at what they do. Love the fluff and they can really mess with your opponents head.

Typhus - Absolutely love scythes, which are painfully rare in this game. Not only that but his model is easily 5 years old, and could be released tomorrow as a "new sculpture". Painfully good quality, lasting pose, etc. I want an army of all Power Scythes, incoming Gundam Wing Nerd Fantasy.
Arjac Rockfist - This guy wins for me on rules alone. S10 AP1 Assault1 Hammer Throw, count me in. Oooo, let me just pop that tank there for you, thank you......Oh or the fact he gets an extra +1 in assaults due to having a shield (with an invuln), AND he can re-roll and failed to hits on Monstrous/IC's, he's a cheap ego deflater for the other team. Space Marines version of Doom of Malan'tai.
But the True winner is
Vulkan He'stan - Where do you start. On the rule side you could talk about his relic blade, his invuln save, his built in heavy flamer. Or oh, ooo, this little nugget, All units replace Combat Tactics in exchange for master-crafted thunder hammers and twin-linked flamers, heavy flamers, meltaguns and multimeltas. ./drool
Not only that, but his cloak is freaking SCALES, how cool is that? He comes with half of his shit looking like it's on fire, with easily the coolest rules in the game. Vulkan is hands down the man.
