is icon really needed for chaos space marine troop?
Seriously, I do not see any people are using regular CSM, most of them are using plague and khrome, if i was using csm, i think i m using nurgle icon. champ w/ power fist and 2meltagun for my 10 man.

the reason everybody uses an icon is because it seems pretty stupid not to....most people build an army with a clear-ish idea of what they want from it, and each sign has a different benefit for a small point value. it just makes sense to make your troops better i guess

The answer is simple...Cult troops do it better. You want an assault unit? go Berserker. Want an objective holder? go Plague. Want a mid range shooting unit? go plague. want a cheap flexible tank hunter? go plague. want some for daemons to deep strike off of while gaining the buffs of the above? go berserker and plague....see where im going with this?
Remember people, Basilisk'''s are my friends
But sadly, not yours

But are not T5 with FNP & Blight Grenades. For the extra points they cost, the bonuses are great and significant. I3 means squat if you can't be killed easily. Nurgle marked Marines are not Plague Marines, they're "Really Bad Cold Marines".
This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.

Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.

Grey Knights don't go to heaven: they go to hell and regroup.

I use the IoCG myself. Regardless, PMs take it like a bitch from any decent assault-based unit just like regular CSM because their benefits are negated by their lack of numbers. GK, BA and SW splatter them, you're better off with TS in those circumstances because the 4+ Inv is much better protection.

That sort of mixed approach is really what the intention was I think. "Pure" lists don't really have the amount of punch they should. And in my experience, Plague Marines are tough-as-nails mo-fo's that for some reason don't like the idea of dying.

Icons. Answer this question: Does my army have Obliterators or Termicide deep striking in? If you answered yes, you should have icons. If you answered no, go with Plague Marines/T Sons/Khorne Berserkers or just regular marines with no icon instead.
