    Next addition...?

    Hey everyone,

I bought a Tau Battleforce at the end of last year and am finishing up the painting of the army now... I have, since the purchase, added another Crisis Battlesuit and a Hammerhead tank. Any advice on what my next purchase should be? Looking to build a solid 1500 point army.

    Thanks

I would recommend a broadside team. With twin linked rail guns, you can use these with markerlights to really ruin someones day.

And if you put a target lock on one of them, you can threaten multiple vehicles at once.

very true, brodsides are great, for me i like the slow and purposful (advanced stabilization system) because when you start from reserves they can come on and shoot.

aside from that kroot are great maybe a few more suits, in 1,500 i would run at least 2 units of 3 more stock than kitted out to keep them with in the point value, although watch out for instant death thats the worst. shield drones are a must too.

For the life of me...no marine list I've ever played could kill my friends one unit of broadsides. While I think he also made up his own rules...they can be quite beefy

Kroot are really underrated for CQC, on the charge they get 3 attacks, and with just the base of 16 you're dealing with a ridiculous number of attacks. They don't win assault out of skill, they win out of sheer numbers.

I remember when I assaulted a terminator squad and the marines player looked on in horror as I killed his entire squad.

Shaper* and yes, if kroot don't win on the initial charge their chance of victory drops exponentially.

But at the same time, they're keeping your forces tied up while (hopefully) friendlies move into position to wipe out any survivors of the assault.

Side note: Why would anyone bring a shaper to a fight? I mean, all they grant is a really low armor save buff and leadership. Kroot are cannon fodder, why would you upgrade cannon fodder?

Depending on your setup an Ion Cannon is fine as it eats up MEQs nicely... As for the Shaper, that extra LD is handy, and if your full he adds a few more attacks.

Awesome replies guys - thanks... Yea, I was thinking about adding another Fire and Kroot squad - along with a few more suits to help beef it up. Again, thanks for all of the great responses! Now I just need to save up for those Broadsides

Yeah Broadsides are definitley worth their cost and points. But dont think you have to load up on other battlesuits. I effectivley play a 1500 point list wiht one regular battlesuit; my commander. Fire Warriors are actually quite good with the help of markerlights. I usually find them being the marine killers! Devilfishes are needed for them so if you are planning on getting some more Fire Warriors, get a devilfish too. Kroot are ok, I just don't think there quite worth their points. But with my first point about running low battlesuits, you need to have every other unit in your army be an effective predator as well or else your screwed. But if you don't think you can make that possible seeing as your new to the game, spam battlesuits . Good Luck with your Tau!

Why not? I've done triple Ion, even triple Skyray... Works just fine if you know what your facing... Rail isn't the only way to go, but without does take a special list.

That list only worked well Vs a few lists where they spammed units like Rhinos, Razorbacks, and Dreadnaughts.

But when it worked, oh man, it was a shooting gallery. lol.

Naw, just need enough Markers to launch them.. With AV12 at most it was easy to pop.
