Ooooooh, you bastard. It's like seventy freaking degrees here. Best we can hope for is a cool breeze.

Remember; when things look bad, and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plum mad dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up, then you neither live nor win. Thats just the way it is.

Heh ... I'm from New England and this time last year I was constructing seven foot high snow ramps along the edges of my property so as to be able to push great amounts of snow over into my backyard with a push shovel.

A year later and I'm living near San Jose, CA and I'm in a place where it seems to be 60 - 70 degrees all year long, summer and winter both. I enjoyed snow and winter because I grew up doing things like skating, skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing but at the same time I sure don't miss the shoveling!

We got 2 inches settled in the last few hours in York, and still falling. Which is a bit of a shame because its 'Vapnartak', our wargames show tomorrow, and lots of traders slogged their way over, unpacked and everything, and a lot of organisation by the Wargames Soc volunteers, and I doubt there'll be much turnout tomorrow if it gets much heavier.

Fingers XXXed for a quick cessation and a sunny day tomorrow!

So after over 8hrs of solid snowing throughout the day, I was looking forward to waking up to a pure white blanket in the morning...

I just had a look outside, and it's all gone. 8hrs worth of snow washed away in the last 3hrs by rain. I am not happy.

Well, I was really worried that the snow was going to wash our our Wargames show at York Racecourse today, but despite 3" over yesterday evening, today was sunny (tho cold) and people ignored the ice warnings and turned out in force! Attendance was about 20% down on average over previous years, but we were fearing much worse, and the guys running the trade stands were on the whole happy with the trading.

If anyone was there - I was running a demo game called 'Viking Raid'. Mostly kids played it, but they all had a great time, loved some of the details (eg if your leader killed a Saxon you got a card with the way he took the guy out - very popular) so it was well worth it.

In Arizona it's like: You want snow? Head up to the northern part of the state, and what do you know, SNOW! Stay where you are? No snow! Don't have to deal with it and you can get it when you want it.

I drove about fine last year in my RWD Skyline.. took some effort but it never got me stuck. This year I've a fwd drive and I bought some decent winter tyres a few months back. I was well impressed, hill starts on steep hills, barely no loss of traction at all. They're not always expensive either but are well worth their cost if you plan on using a car in the snow or if its icey. Cant put a price on safety!

Snow isn't my thing, especially not if i have to stand in it for hours and hours. I don't like it when my feet (and later the rest of my body) are frozen. It is however unavoidable here in afghanistan. So far it has been a "soft" winter, with temperatures only going as low as -19°C. First snow fell at the beginning of january here.

    Weather report from yesterday:

There is no peace among the stars, only an eternity of slaughter and the laughter of thirsting gods.
