I thought of a tip!
Sometimes I will "paint" with the brush when it is completely dry. This will let you see how it flexes and moves before you put paint to your model. Almost like a practice run. I do this a lot with areas that are high detail that need to be right the first time, or when I'm using a new brush.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or not but if it starts to get boring or you begin to dread looking into the 'un-painted drawer' take a break.
I've been gone from the hobby for a few months now and am raring to get back into it!
