What is best to convert to black templar.

hello im not new to 40k i have just been playing tyranids for a long time and would like to play as a space marine now and im so far in love with the black Templar they just have my vibe. anyhow what is the best battleforce to convert them into i understand i can buy the chapter upgrade and do that, but my real question is which battleforce would have the necessary squad, guns, vehicles, troops etc. that the black Templar would have. because i dont want to get a battleforce to convert only to use 40% or so of it.

First off, i dont actually do SM or any subsidiary of them (yet) but looking at all the battleforce's i would guess that either Blood Angels or just the SM battleforce would be the easiest to convert (i would avoid the SW one, unless you really want a drop pod).

Failing that, i would invest in a bunch of AoBR sets and convert them. If you converting anything, it will all involve a certain amount of work anyway, so it may be a little irrelevant which one you choose. I would also bung in some of those guys with hoods (on bikes etc) Raven guard? As they look like religious zealots which i believe the Bt are supposed to be, and capes with hood's look very "monky" which might fit in with their fluff.

I would add that i hope, for your sake, that someone else chips in because this is not really my forte (SM armies).

Out of the 3 available (SM, BA, SW) it depends on what you want since all are somewhat lacking in an area where another is an improvement.

SW will give you the most amount of freedom with wargear selection and such while also giving you a good chunk of units including neophytes/scouts but they will be festooned with SW iconography which would probably be a problem if you plan on stripping them of that sort of thing.

SM won't give you as many options in wargear (most will have to be equipped with a basic bolter) but as they are standard you won't necessarily have to strip them of chapter specific iconography, that and the box gives plenty of troops.

BA will give you a good mix between chainsword+bolt pistol and bolter but once again there is the iconography thankfully only on the DC marines (5) but this set only give you 20 PA marines, basically lacking the 5 scouts the other two sets give you.

The choice is yours, personally I would go with the regular SM box and see if I can scrounge up some chainswords/bolt pistols off ebay or a bits seller, would seem the most economical/least irritating way to go about it.
