I am on an extremely limited budget, but luckily only require a 600 point army to join the school club. Since all of the attendants are my friends, I know they will be playing as Salamanders (Space Marines), Dark Eldar and Eldar. I'd very much appreciate your views on this list, as I am quite new to Warhammer 40,000 and know very little about compiling a good army since this will be my first one. Would this fair up well against their armies?

If I were you I would go with something like this, I put it in your other thread too... it is only the Battleforce box and comes to 598 points:

Wolf Lord, storm bolter + storm shield

5x Wolf Scouts, Heavy Bolter, Power Weapon

9x Grey Hunters, Plasma Gun + Power Weapon (Wolf Lord goes along here)
in a Drop Pod

10x Grey Hunters, 2x Plasma Gun + Power Weapon


Voila! 600 point list, one box to buy.

go for your Rune priest, more vehicles and such later...

I would go for:

Rune Priest + Chooser of the Slain = 110

5 Wolf Guard
2 with Powerfist & Combi Melta (cost added to units below)
2 with Combi plasma (46)
1 plain (1
[The plasmas and plain become bodyguards for the Priest who can hang around a bit more...]

I'd second the battleforce box, as you can build the list you have listed without too much difficulty. I'd drop the iron priest as he's only really useful in a list with lots of vehicles. Spend the extra points on extras like plasma guns, melta guns and possibly transportation.
If you get the Battleforce and don't want to use the drop pod, you can probably trade for a razorback or rhino.
After dropping the Iron Priest, give the Rune priest a Chooser of the slain, and each of those squads dual plasma or meltaguns, and one of the squads dual flamers to combat hordes. You should have the points (I don't have my codex with me to confirm) and you've got a solid foot slogging list that can take on just about anything they can throw at you at 600 points. If you have a friend willing to let you borrow a rhino or razorback you can test if you like that style of play and save up for a couple of your own.
