Questions About Space Wolves
[HQ] Rune Priest 100 Points
[Elite] Iron Priest 50 Points
[Troops] 10 Space Wolves Pack 150 Points
[Troops] 10 Space Wolves Pack 150 Points
[Troops] 10 Space Wolves Pack 150 Points
Total Points: 600 Points
Total Army Costs: £93.60
I am on an extremely limited budget, but luckily only require a 600 point army to join the school club. Since all of the attendants are my friends, I know they will be playing as Salamanders (Space Marines), Dark Eldar and Eldar. I'd very much appreciate your views on this list, as I am quite new to Warhammer 40,000 and know very little about compiling a good army since this will be my first one. Would this fair up well against their armies?
QUESTION: I've noticed on the GW website that there are Space Marine commanders and other SM stuff mixed in. Yet, in the codex for Space Wolves, they are not mentioned. Can I use these then or what?

Power Armor is Power Armor, no matter the flavor
Terminator Armor is Terminator Armor no matter the flavor
You can use any marine in power armor or terminator armor to represent a marine from any codex (DA, SM, BA, SW, BT, Chaos, GK) as long as they are armed properly. If your list is exactly those pieces and no add-ons (power fist/sword) then you will struggle with any sort of armor and most likely with masses of infantry although the latter I'm not too sure about. Depending on the Packs armament you will be as average as possible although at that point limit I do believe 30+ SM in power armor should be a good chunk of hardened infantry.

Well, how would I find out the points values for items such as the Space Marine Commander, which isn't even in the Space Wolves Codex? Would I need to buy the Space Marine one? Also, what would you recommend for my 600 points army then seeing as I'm a total newbie to this hobby?
This was the Space Wolves pack I was on about. I was going to have Wolf Guard, Grey Hunters and Blood Claws coupled with my Rune Priest and Iron Priest.

No no no. What he's saying is that you buy a Space Marine Commander to use as your Wolf Lord. The Wolf Lord is the Space Wolf equivalent of Commander. You just decorate it with Wolf pelts and stuff from the Space Wolves Pack.
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Death Guard
Nurgle Daemons
Traitor Guard

The Space Marine Commander comes with 1 body in Power Armor, plus a bunch of bits with which to create a unique "Commander Unit" (read: HQ) which unfortunately I do not have the Space Wolves Codex with me so I wouldn't know exactly what the specifications would be for an HQ although from what I understand the most basic HQ would be armed with Chainsword/Bolt Pistol or you could add extra items such as power fist, combi-weapon, power sword. The points cost would be in your Codex as whatever the basic character's cost is plus any upgrades so let's say a Wolf Lord is base 100 points and replacing his Chainsword with a Power fist is 10 points, so your Wolf Lord with Power Fist made from the Commander Box would be 110 points.
I think at 600 points you should have 1 HQ (Wolf Lord) plus 2 troops kitted out decently as in power weapon/fist for the sergeant plus whatever special/heavy weapons are allowed for the pack and if you have points left over, either a Transport for your troops or as others have suggested get a predator or something.

The above list could work well, but don't bother with the iron priest. He's only useful if you have lots of vehicles. Spend the extra points on upgrades and transports. As a space wolf you have the benefit of having a troop choice that's actually great to have

Edmondblack: There's something about some str10, AP2 blast weaponry which says "i love you" in that very special way.
