Hobby Heresy - what is yours ?

I have been on and off the hobby since I was 8 or 9 (30 now, but some will see at the meet I dont look a day over..... 31). At each stage of my hobby life and various returns, I have entered back in doing various different things. Talking about this with my mate a while ago, he has been doing it as long but he still has everything he has ever bought or been bought, somewhere boxed up either in his house or still at his parents.

To his dismay, I have committed Hobby Heresy because :

    - 2nd Edition 40k - gone, binned many moons ago
    - My 5000pts Warhammer Chaos army.... gone, binned (or at least I think) - years ago and I am sure the remnants of it when I moved house about 6 years back
    - Necromunda back when I was 15/16 - gone, binned
    - 3rd Edition Imperial Guard army (catachan models), lots of them - gone, binned (or at least I think so, parents dont seem to have anything).

Every time in previous entries and exits to the hobby I never foresaw returning and I classed it as old toys / interest. But now I think WTF was I doing - especially as a lot of this could of been flogged at the very least.

Luckily my 3rd Edition return / exit with Tau, meant I did not make the same mistakes - they were packed away but I did lose 3 Broadsides (somehow).

Anyway - to my mate this is all Heresy and every now again when this topic gets brought up he shakes his head.

So what is your hobby Heresy ?

I'm the same as you, CJB. Been in and out of this hobby for years. Had Space Crusade as a kid, gone, destroyed, missing just a few bits and pieces left. Annoying to the extent that I've since replaced it with a new copy from eBay to no little expense.

Had Blood Angels and Eldar in 2nd ed. that got binned, threw some away a year or two ago thinking; "I'll never get that old crappy paint off"! How little I knew...

Biggest crime though has to be my collection from the Epic game system. Had very large marine, Guard and Nid armies and alas, they all went in the bin. I was far more into Epic than 40k and lost a lot there. I'd play that game again if there was the support for it!

Back about 6 years ago, I collected the crap out of warhammer. I had (roughly):

4000 points of lizardmen, including virtually every unit they had. (Including the metal heroes... jesus christ)
    1000 of necrons.
    2000 of Tau, infantry heavy.
4000 of Tyranids, again with pretty much every model available.

I also had LoTR, but I'm not sure how the points worked for them, I just collected armies and made castles etc. for them.

Balrog, Shelob... so on all in metal.
Enough men of minas tirith to defend the white city itself.
    A decent army of rohirim.
Enough goblins to fill moria. (Seriously, any time I had money and didn't know what to buy... I just got goblins)
    About 5-6 squads of urukhai.
All of this with the heroes for each army... just because I'm a LoTR freak

I asked my mother about them possibly being in the attic the other day, but she swears we gave them to charity or sold them. This is the reason she didn't care for me starting warhammer again, as she claims I must have spent over £2,000 on the models I bought, not including the paint or glue.
It almost killed me to accept the fact I got rid of this collection, but I have my orks now, and lootin's all that matter... isn't it?

Having enough GKTs to last me for years to come. Does that count?

This week I am good-naturedly shaking my fist at: Baragash. For being unreasonably reasonable.
    Sex, drugs and pointy ears.
Cheaphammer 40p: 2000 points of Marines as cheap as possible.
It'll be alright on the Knight - a slow refreshing of my original Grey Knight army.

I had a really well painted Escher gang inc the more rare heavies, for Necremunda back when female models were scarce, including a rather good "Mad Donna Ulanti" charactor model which I sold on ebay to my regret. (although if I remember correctly his feedback was along the lines of "can his daughter have my babies" lol)

PS I assumed she was old enough before anyone points that out to me.

I've had a habit of keeping all my models since starting to collect. Which was like over 10years ago now. Multiple versions of space hulk, space crusade, 2nd edition box set and so on. I've always had a mix of Blood Angels and Nid's since starting flitting between the two

My heresy was buying Tau: Firewarrior for the pc thinking it would be any good. Space Hulk still rules!

Just before I moved in with my Mrs I sorted out all my stuff in my bedroom and I binned:

Around 100 copies of White Dwarf (from when it was good)
And my First ever army - about 50ish 2nd edition Marines - the old snap fits.

Could of e-bayed the lot but I really couldn't be arsed.
