Please help me this is driving me mad!

Long story short, Iv been collect Chaos space marines for a long time and when I started my painting and basing where rubbish! but over the years I got a lot better and have re touch my old models but am still suck on basing....So iv decided to buy some pre-made bases and re base my complete chaos army..Which is black legion BTW. but i just can't decide on what style to go for and its driving me mad!

do you think there go with a Chaos army? And does anyone know of any good sites other then ebay to get different styles?

For me, I never really deviated from basic black bases for my CSMs. To me, there is no one environment that they adhere to, and so a lack of special bases is no real problem. Personally, those bases look Ork-y to me. If it were me, I'd take the money you'd spend on bases, stash it, and thus have money for when the next codex comes out. Toodles!

honestly, if you want a decent looking base that isn't just plain, and you aren't confident in your base making abilities, then do what i do. paint some elmer's glue on the base, and then dunk it in some black sand. it's cheap to do, and looks good enough if you ask me.

My advice to keep it simple My Black Legion force is simply based I paint the base Mechanite red and then flock it with some red sand/gravel. You can do this with most colour combinations. In addition I paint the surrounding band a differant colour (Catachan Brown in my case) this makes it have a more complete look. check out my album to see what I mean.

Lastly when you have this off pat you can add some extras to the bases of your character models such as rocks, boulders, plants, pools etc, when you feel more confident Plus this is probabally cheaper than "bought bases" all the best from a fellow BL collector.... MD

Hi Rm their nice, my only issue would be BL are mainly black, so I personally would want a contrasting lighter colour for the base, secondly bare in mind once you start down a path you are committed, so the larger the army you plan, the larger amount of "Bought in" bases you are commiting too, but horses for courses you pays your money, you make your choice, best of luck anyways in what ever you decide.
