First Tyranid List. Swaaarrrmms >:D [2000p] a work in progress.
Before I begin, I'm new to warhammer 40k tabletop. When choosing an army I referred to my knowledge of starcraft. Knowing that starcraft itself was derived from 40k. I am an avid Zerg player, so when I saw the tyranids, I instantly fell in love with those adorable voracious little monsters. Just like in starcraft, I wanted to run a swarm list. This is what I came up with.
HQ's
Swarmlord - 260p
Tervigon w/ regen +30, miasma +15, acid blood +15, toxin sacs +10, adrenal glands +10 = 240p
Troops
Horm brood x20 w/ toxin sacs - 160p
Horm brood x20 w/ toxin sacs - 160p
Horm brood x20 w/ toxin sacs - 160p
Term brood x20 - 100p
Genestealer brood x20 w/ scything talons - 320p
Tyr. warrior brood x3 w/ strangler & ven. cannon - 115p
Elites
Venomthrope x1 - 55p
Venomthrope x1 - 55p
doom of malan'tai x1 - 90p
Heavy
Trygon Prime w/ regen - 265p
If my math is right that should come out to 2000p flat. I plan to split the 2 venomthropes into their own separate groups so I can put them on either side of my army or something like that to give my entire force that spore cloud cover save. I understand the points I threw into my tervigon can go towards more troops in my hormagaunt/termagaunt broods but hey, if tervy is spawning more termagants why not make him nice and tough to keep the bonuses for my terms going huh? feedback plz

You've definitely got the bug mentality down. That's a lot of bugs!
When building a Nid list there are a few things you always need to keep in mind:
-do I have enough Synapse?
-can I suppress enemy vehicles?
Our entire army has solid anti-infantry capabilities, so worrying about whether or not you will eat Marines for dinner is silly. You will!
You have to remember that in 40k, it's less about eating your opponent's entire army (which is fun and will win you the game), and more about playing to the objectives. 2/3rds of the missions are Capture and Control style, and you have plenty of scoring units, so you're clear there. Bugs naturally tend to struggle in Kill Point missions, since we tend to bring a lot of kill points to the table. You can help this by combining units where you can.
Like I mentioned, our synapse is actually quite important. Without it, we lose control over our army, and they start to do what they want to do. While this is fine most of the time (I want them to eat the closest thing anyway), you run into problems when your 30man blob of Hormagaunts fail their Instinctive Behavior test and Feed right into the nearest Land Raider and try to slash it to death, which they will fail horribly at doing.
With these tips in mind, here are a few pointers on your list.
-give the Swarmlord two Tyrant Guard. They protect him, and he's important.
-combine the three 20 man Hormagaunt broods into 2 30man broods. Less kill points, larger blobs. A win-win situration.
-move the Tervigon to Troops, since you have a group of Termagants. You should always try to do this with Tervigons if possible, since a Scoring MC is wonderful
-combine the Venomthropes into one brood. Less Kill Points.
-drop the Doom of Malantai and add in a Tyranid Prime. The Doom is high risk high reward, and is only as effective as the Spore he should Deep Strike inside of. The Tyranid Prime is a humongous bargain for his price, an Independant Character so you can hide him in squads, and he's Synapse, which you could use a little more of.
-Regen is usually too expensive to be useful, since it's only a chance you'll regen, and they will be trying to nuke down one MC at a time, so you might not even get a turn to roll for regen. This being said, it's a bargain on the Tyranid Prime.
-drop Miasma off of the Tervigon. Personally, I would drop Acid Blood too, but it's funny to watch her blood kill people.
-give the Trygon Adrenal Glands. Charging at i5 is too good.
At this point you're current list will be a lot more optimized for what you're trying to do: swarm. There is one glaring flaw, though, which is your lack of ranged anti-tank. Most Nid players use Hive Guard for this role, although Zoanthropes tend to do alright as well as being Synapse. This being said, not every area is filled with Parking Lots, you'll find out whether you need the guns soon enough.
Last but not least, have fun eating some Marines!

I'm a big fan of the doom but for most effective use he kinda needs a spore to DS in with. I'd consider dropping all the extras on tervigon, and regen on the trygon and try and get some hive guard in their for some anti tank.
