Re: "Official" Airsoft Thread
Not a bad day today.
Best / worst part of the day was in a defend the base game. I got hit defending the first base so fell back to the 2nd. I asked the marshalls if we were confined to that base till the enemy attacked and was told I could bugger off back towards the firefight at base 1 if I wanted.
I promptly grabbed my shotgun and made for the shoosting. Snuck up on 4 blues taking cover against a building and popped them all.
All of a sudden a blue with an AK jumps out of the packing crate 10 feet away and shot me in the balls. Unintentionally I think but it still hurt like a mofo!

Looking forward to tomorrow... wel today now.
The guy that usually gives me a lift is coming from a completely different direction this time so I get to lug 3 bags full of kit around the public transport system! Adds a bit of anticipation to it
Plus he's picking me up my spanky new MK23 SOCOM from the shop. I smell Metal Gear - esque box shenanigans!

Not sure about these myself, its either paintball or the proper thing to me.
Wouldnt mind getting myself a proper decent paintball marker which actually shoots in a straight line rather than the borrowed ones you get given at the sites.
Apart from that my Remington Police rifle is reliably accurate to 800-900yards

Re: "Official" Airsoft Thread
Nah.
Paintball is too expensive and (for want of a better term) unrealistic for me; with paintball the balls start to drop immediately so you end up aiming slightly up and not firing at the person, youre firing it in an indirect arc. With airsoft you get hopup and a straighter flight for longer.
As for real steel im UK based so thats a nogo!

And just for a sense of scale

Yes that is a 300mm ruler I snaffled from school back in the day and started drawing on an Imperial Navy cruiser. What can I say; chemistry was dull.
My wallet hates me but I love it! Slightly less amused at losing both my lens cap and the back off of my sniper rifle but cest la vie. Good day anyway!

Re: "Official" Airsoft Thread
The idea of airsoft attracts me. It seems like it could be alot of fun, but I know nothing about it.
Are electric guns any good? I ask because i was looking around and found things like this:
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-AK-LR300-L.htm
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-AK-SR25.htm
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-JG-P90-TR.htm
but didnt know if they were what I would want (assuming I can find a place to play around here).

Re: "Official" Airsoft Thread
Do yourself a favour Treehugger, if you like customer service and actually getting what you ordered, give airsplat a wide berth...
Try Airsoft GI instead, they're bloody good (reputedly)...
As far as guns go, the cheapest worth even thinking about are the CYMA Ak's (CM028 and CM031). Moving upwards in price, Jing Gong are fair and Echo1 are rebranded JG guns. Echo1 guns generally have metal bushings as opposed to JG's nylon, so they're inherently more reliable in the long term. Tokyo Marui are the kings of reliability, but they're relatively low pwoered and expensive, they're also nearly all plastic. Classic Army guns are currently pants unfortunately, I you can find a second hand one that's more than about 18 months old, it should be great, but their recent batches have been poor. ICS make good solid guns, with good power and all metal (where applicable) construction. The KWA AEG's are extremely good and the new G&G guns are reported to be some of the best AEG's on the market.
Avoid all offerings by Both Elephant, Double Eagle, Well, Bell, Boyi, Cybergun and any real world firearms manufacturer (they just license out their names to companies who need the gimmick to peddle their junk.)
I feel your pain Boltrig, been too broke to go for months now... Now that I have a (very) little spare cash, it looks like I'll be going twice next week (bless Firefight and their tuesday evening games)..

Re: "Official" Airsoft Thread
After seeing this thread, and re-realizing my natural affinity with guns and tactica with lazer tag on tuesday (totall score 9800, Hit 12 times, total of 70 hits on the other team, 5 a-side-game, Its 1000 points for hitting the base, didnt hit the base once... or hold the rifle with too hands either..god I love pretending its a bolter)
Ive sourced around for some airsoft in Ireland. Wont be starting for a few years, as I have age, monetary needs and other such things too do until then, but Ive found a site and was wondering if one of you experienced loviles would tell me what would be best for a beginner to buy from this site?

Re: "Official" Airsoft Thread
With the Sterling weak against the Euro, I'd suggest doing all you can to get the cash (and legal adults) necessary to buy in the UK right now... You'll never get guns as cheap in Ireland...
Case in point, the CA AUG:
http://www.airsofteire.com/index.php?pa ... &Itemid=26
€319
http://www.fire-support.co.uk/store/com ... oduct=1596
£235
At today's rate, £235 = €250, that's a saving of €70 with will sort you out with a battery and/or spare mags....
