    Noobie build for Dark Eldar?

So I know that the Dark Eldar are notoriously noob (unfriendly) race to start with. But assuming I can't be dissuaded, what is essentially the best Dark Eldar army for a noob to start with? Price really isn't an issue, just complexity.

A simple combined arms detachment with an Archon, some venoms, Kabalite Warriors, and a Raider w/ splinter racks.

This gives you a ton of mobility, as well as a fair amount of firepower.

    Archon with either:
    -Incubi
    -Trueborn with blasters

few units of kabalites in venoms or raiders depending on which one you like/how big your kabalite units are, most people prefer venoms.
Chuck the Archon in a raider/venom to support the front line
Maybe a unit of haywire blaster scourges or a ravager for anti-tank
Shadowfield on Archon is great, blaster or agoniser are popular as additional choices
    To start, I would take

    Archon+4x Incubi
    (Venom)

    5 kabalites
    (Venom)

    5 kabalites
    (Venom)

    Ravager
    3x dark Lances

Ravager is anti-tank, kabalites deal with infantry and archon with Incubi hunt the enemy warlord and heavy infantry (TEQ's)
ALWAYS give venoms the second splinter cannon upgrade, it is always worth it.After you've played a few games with this List, evaluate what you need more of (anti-tank,anti-MC,ect)no expand from there.
    Hope this helps!

So does that mean the Start Collecting box is the best place to start?

I'd say yes.Definately. Reavers are great in larger numbers with the cluster caltropses,as they'll hit hard in combat, stay in combat on the enemy turn so as to not get shot, and the hit and run out to charge again that turn. You also get an Archon, 10 kabalites and a raider. Pick up a squad of Incubi and a venom to go with your archon whilst the kabalites take the raider. A small list that'll win you some games, and great to get a feel for the army!
