With the Etheral storming off your group decides to follow, with little other choice. As you press through the city again you notice it is once again empty of life, and has resumed it's ghost town appearance.

You pause a distance away from the city to gain your bearing and decide on your route.

    Options:
    - return to Yunda to inform them of what you've seen, before continuing to the
    - Head through the Sahara to the mountains (most direct route)
    - Take the eastern route around Malekai ( slightly longer route, relatively safer)

"Might as well get this done and over with, I vote for the most direct route or perhaps we should go back and let them know first?" Torbac muses aloud to his group.

    -Go with the group vote

    "My Lord! We're surrounded!!"
"Excellent! Now we can attack in any direction"

"Yesss, we go direct. I believe we should keep this to ourselves. If our co-conspirators in Yunda, were ever captured, Malekieth would be able to get this information out them....whether they wanted to tell or not"

As a group you decide to travel through the treacherous Sahara. You spend the entire day and night travelling, finally stopping in the early morning hours for a break. Nothing but open plains surrounds you, tall grass that comes up to the neck of Tabitha, and the chests of the others. You hear eagle screams in the sky, and see specks high above.

Your group decides to spend the day here, in the shade of the only tree on the plains. It isn't long before you hear the screeches again, and notice a giant hawk floating down towards your tree, with two more still circling higher up.

Back up against the tree, being nice and hidden by it's branches if possible, no need to provide an easy target, draw weapon and wait to see what happens.

OOC: Anyone got a bow? I think we could have lunch

If we have a rope, I'd like to tie myself to Rex, Torbac, or Ulteran...being the smallest and lightest of the group has T a little apprehensive...then notch an arrow and prepare to fire as fast as she can with her nice fancy skill from Che when she judges it to be in range.

Your group backs against the tree, becoming more and more worried as the bird gets closer to the ground. Determined not to become lunch, Tabitha fires an arrow at the beast, firing true.

But the bird rolls at the last second, letting the arrow glide harmlessly through its wing feathers. It lands in front of you, slamming into the ground hard enough to unbalance you.

Your group prepares itself to attack, giving it's last, when the bird suddenly speaks.

"A Tigrean, an Etheral and two Fruntari cross the plains, and what do they see? Why a bird, as big as a tree! Now why does the Tigrean, Etheral and Fruntari cross the plains, this bird cannot see. Perhaps they will enlighten him on their reason for this odd journey, with this odd group."

The bird seems to stare at you, waiting for you to speak. You notice it flexing its claws on its right talon, but otherwise it doesn't look aggressive.

OOC: Sorry for the huge wait on this update - trying to set up my first ever D&D game irl, didn't realise how much work it is...

Ulteran smiles slightly, then steps forward. "Our reason is our own, but perhaps you would be willing to trade to know. Or, a riddle, if you wish. Guess right and we will be more than happy to explain. Guess wrong and we gain your knowledge, and you don't gain ours. So, Great Bird, what will it be?"

Torbac wondered just how he had come to be in the company of such unique individuals

OOC: wait for it to reply to the riddle question I guess

The Giant Hawk blinks twice and cocks its head to the side.

"Trivial things though they may be, guess one right and you will be free. Guess one wrong, lo' and behold, dangers may be untold."

With a flourish of his hands and a slight bow of the neck, Ulteran says, "I take a part of you, to make a whole. I am inside half, but produce the whole."

The Hawk cocks its head. Squaking to itself. It begins to stamp it's feet into the ground.

"You start out hard, as though you were a bard. The answer I cannot see, but I will try and believe. What you ask for, be it an child of unborn, but soon to be?"

Torbac stands looking on in confusion, knowing his life hangs in the balance, knowing his fate is in the hands of two clearly insane creatures.

Tabitha watches open-mouthed and what is unfolding.

Talking birds. Why'd it have to be talking birds?!
