There's been a bit of a blurring between the Off Topic forum and the Chaos Wastes recently, which isn't a particularly good thing. The point of the Wastes is to contain the insanity within there, while leaving the rest of the board for more sensible discussion. Remember that spamming is not allowed outside of the wastes.

Off Topic is for:
(Reasonably) serious discussion,
Topics about games, news, science, etc,
Staying on topic within each individual thread.

Chaos Wastes is for:
Non-serious topics,
One-word posts,
Funny videos, pictures, word games, etc.

(Although no Politics and Religion debates in either.)

If you are thinking of posting a non-40k related topic, ask yourself if it is a serious topic. If you don't mind it being derailed then put it in the wastes. If you want to have a discussion that stays fairly sensible, post it in Off Topic.

If a topic is fairly serious I'd ask that it'd be posted in Off Topic. The main problem, however, is spam in the Off Topic.
If a topic in Off Topic turns into wastes material, I'm either going to delete the useless posts, or if the topic's unrecoverable, send it to the wastes. If people can be think about which forum they are posting in, it'd mean that I wouldn't have to do this, which I'd like very much, because I'm a lazy bastard. So please just think about which sub-forum you're in when posting in the Off Topic or the Chaos Wastes.
