I would really prefer not to use skype.
Edit: To clarify, if people want to move towards something which isn't so friendly to new forum go-ers, or who arn't part of the established "group", i'd much prefer to go to a voice program like mumble or vent (IMO)

scythes: might not be a great idea to turn in a paper titled 'The Korean WAARRGGH!'
Architech:Tom, No more crack (cocaine is a hell of a drug)
ShadowSplicer: Tom is all knowing and wise, some cultures even accept him as their deity

Maccaveli: even Tommunist, a guy who's normally the gamer equivalent of a care-bear with a weed habit, hates your guts. How did you even manage that?
SiS: I'm sure if someone staged an assassination, that site could be just as big a tourist attraction with far less upkeep

Now i'm new here, but if i may, i'd like to toss in my 2 cents, especially because of my personal experience with a similar issue. I am an editor on a news website of a new market in my own country (unrelated to warhammer and the subject itself is unimportant). Now I have never shined away from using my real name, or my personal information (well email, facebook, stuff like that) in any situation. My philosophy is simple: this is me, this is how you contact me. Good luck.
However since my website has started taking off (yeee), i have experienced something that i really didn't believe could happen: the fanboy. Not towards me, Mihai Banc, random student that likes warhammer, pizza and has a Warhammer tattoo on his bicep, but for TheMajinTrunks. My online persona that is very well informed in a particular subject. While I will never shine away from a good debate on any topic, I found myself constantly asked ridiculous questions like "What do you think of red paint for ultramarines" - i'm formulating the question in warhammer terms so you can see what you can expect.
I fear that if Skype - let's face it's a very personal program that could pretty much contain your friends - is used, that might result in the most knowledgeble forum members assaulted with these kinds of questions. And let's face it, they don't even ask the questions to hear the answers, they just want to talk to "THE BIG GUY". Which i can assure you, can be VERY annoying.
Ventrilo, Teamspeak, are much better alternatives. There is no friend list, there is no personal account. There is a server - like an IRC chat - that you can connect to, have a chat, and leave when you are get bored. Skype is to personal a thing to have just floating around.
All this being said, i don't know if my personal experience with being an editor for a website might translate into this forum community, but I think it can.
So that's my 2 cents.

There's always the block option
but I currently have a few forumers on skype and it hasn't been a bad experience. Of course, I mainly use it to make calls while we play starcraft. Either way, the skype idea never really picked off and irc is really the place to be.

not sure why this discussion was important after what...6 months? Not closing thread...because it's about other things...but an argument or point of view 6 months later...is usually useless
